ABSOLUT VODKA partners rising illustrator Sokkuan to launch limited edition “ABSOLUT Sophie” mirror inspired by the classic cocktail.

ABSOLUT VODKA presents the “ABSOLUT Sophie” mirror, a limited edition collectible conceived from the partnership between the iconic vodka brand and Sokkuan, a rising illustrator and winner of the “IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD” installation during Singapore Design Festival 2009.
The masterpiece honours the classic cocktail Bloody Mary with its premium quality to bring about the brand promise of “IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD, Every Drink is an Exceptional Experience”.
The collaboration also marks the start to ABSOLUT’s string of initiatives to encourage cocktail culture in Singapore, which promises an exceptional world of experience to fans later this year.
As the winner of “IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD, Every Drink is an Exceptional Experience” which incepted in 2009, Sokkuan was presented the opportunity to design a limited edition collectible for ABSOLUT, a brand that is synonymous to creativity and one that inspires people to look at the world differently.
Inspired by the Bloody Mary legend of chanting into a mirror to summon her spirit, this multifaceted mirror echoes Sokkuan’s fascinations with the dark spirit which reflected when one looks into a mirror.
Sophie Black is the alter ego in the world of pseudo reality where she gave Sophie Black a new manifestation through an exquisite handheld mirror that echoes the quirky and mysterious essences exuded by the Bloody Mary.
“I adore people and things in harmonious contradictions. Sophie Black, my alter ego who exists in a world of pseudo reality, is the epitome of such paradox. Playing on the well-known Bloody Mary legend, my design of this multifaceted handheld mirror reflects my fascinations with dark, quirky, mysterious yet beautiful essences exuded by both Bloody Mary and Sophie Black.

Ever since the inception of the “IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD, Every Drink is an Exceptional Experience”, the campaign has created buzz amongst the creative community.
Through the collaboration with some of the most creative and exciting personalities of today, the campaign brings the cocktail world to life and change the playing field within the cocktail community and continue to have relevance among today’s vodka connoisseurs.

About Sokkuan
Based in Singapore after her graduation from The One Academy of Communication Art in Kuala Lumpur, Sokkuan is currently working as a commercial illustrator well-versed in a variety of illustration styles. Sokkuan loves simplicity with necessary details and adores people and things that are in harmonious contradictions, the same way she appreciates black and white. Sophie Black is the epitome of such paradox that truly shows her charm. In the 2007, with the title "See you in the dark", Sophie Black series was showcased in a graphic art exhibition series, "Le monde est á nous", hosted by Night&Day Gallery.
